I wear my infrared glasses at night

Though not sure if it makes a huge difference in this case because this was with a 300 W incandescent light bulb. Would probably have looked similar in the visible spectrum. I’ve also managed to only burn my arm once so that’s good and professional. Some people manage to do these kinds of self portrait…

coffee kitsch

okay the end result looks like something one would use as a background for a “live laugh love” poster but a big part of the fun is to use the old 9×12 camera in the street. There is a street there in the background, it’s just not visible because of the combination of physics and…

nature and infrastructure

okay the focus is maybe not exactly where it should be. But in my defense, classic 9×12 cameras are really difficult to shoot hand-held. And if I used a tripod I wouldn’t have that excuse for my mistakes, so I can’t do that. The dust is also a bit much even for my standards but…

short wave infrared vacation

it’s important to not get eyes in frame if you don’t want to get nightmares but hands and arms work very well This is with a 720 nm high-pass filter so there’s a tiniest bit of (red) visible light in it too but it’s mostly infrared. That also makes skin much more transparent which conveniently…

seagull content

In flight! With a Rolleiflex! Okay without the tree in the background this would be a better picture but I couldn’t really move that in time. #rolleiflex #rolleiflexoldstandard #fomafilm #fomapan400

summer 1890

With a wooden ~1890s 9×12 tailboard camera, though shooting on medium format film (Ilford Delta 100). Half of the time it works all the time! This is hand-held, with the slightly modified original Thornton-Pickard shutter, at about 1/200s. Focusing remains slightly problematic – the focusing scale I made is not very accurate and my bad…

self portrait in closet

old man tries to fill the film. old man should do that more often but old man didn’t feel like it during winter. but they switched the big photo light in the sky back on now so maybe we can have more narcissism labeled as art again. i say we but i mean mostly myself…

the romance of the sea

With a 1932 Rolleiflex “Old Standard”, on (modern, unrelated) Rollei 25 Ortho plus. Which is a nice slow film for keeping these old cameras wide open on sunny days. At which point one will of course only see scenes that would benefit from a smaller aperture, as is the law. #rolleiflex #rolleiflexoldstandard #filmisnotdead #rolleiortho25

work from hochsitz

(There’s an office chair in there which is really hard to see because I focused on the wrong thing, as is tradition) Camera: 1932 Rolleiflex “Old Standard”, on glowing Foma Ortho 400

really weird birds

Or maybe deer. I’m not an ornithologist. Basically actual wildlife photography! I would have two much better photos, but the Rolleiflex decided to have film transport problems for the first time since 1932 and the last shots are not actually on the film. Looked great through the viewfinder though! National Geographic cover, available in my…
