have decided to exchange being bad at drypoint engraving for being bad at ink drawing. it’s a much faster way of seeing results that i don’t like, so that’s been very helpful. these ones are not completely wrong but don’t look too closely.

this was with a 0.05 (mm? i have no idea, very thin) staedler pigment liner. in a way i wished the lines were even thinner. can get away with much more bullshit in drypoint. also i miss the uhm “technique” of inking the plate unevenly – which can help with shading if you otherwise run out of talent. though maybe i’ll get some charcoal to simulate that.

as may be obvious, i have not yet found a hatching technique that i like so i’m using all of them
